Candied Black Pepper and Medjool Date Bacon


  • 227 g bacon of good quality, about 8 slices

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 4 Natural Delights Medjool dates, diced finely

  • 1 tsp. freshly cracked, coarse black pepper

  • ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper


Preheat oven to 175 degrees.

  1. Arrange the bacon on a rack placed over a lined sheet pan.

  2. In a small bowl, mix the remaining ingredients together, making sure to coat the dates with the spices to keep them easier to handle and separate.

  3. Sprinkle and rub the mixture over the bacon.

  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the desired level of crispness.

Serve warm as breakfast bacon or add to sandwiches, pizzas or salads for extra flavor. Cut the bacon in half for appetiser-size servings.
